How to order donor sperm
Searching for the right donor and ordering donor sperm can seem a bit overwhelming until you have become familiar with the functions and filters available. To help you navigate through our Donor Search we have put together this guide.
One of the first steps in the process of ordering donor sperm is to browse through the Donor Search. Here you will find more than 1000 donors with different ethnicities and backgrounds to choose from. We recommend that you always speak with your clinic about your treatment to get more information about what kind of donor sperm to order (IUI/ICI, motility and Standard) before placing the order for donor sperm.
Step 1: Create a private account
Go to Donor Search and choose a username and a password.
- Please be aware that your username must contain between 8-20 characters and can contain the following: a-z, A-Z, 0-9, and _- . @
- The password must contain a minimum of 10 characters and include minimum one small letter, one capital letter, one number and one special symbol e.g. (-!:/=)
Once you have created your account you will receive a verification e-mail. When you have clicked the link in the e-mail, you can log in and access the Donor Search.
Step 2: Selecting the right Standard
Next step is to choose the correct Standard. Cryos is licensed according to the EU-Tissue Directive and can deliver donor sperm to all EU countries as well as export outside of the EU, but because of countries’ different legislations, choosing the right Standard when getting fertility treatment at a clinic is very important. Learn more about Standards here.
Step 3: Select country of residence and treatment
When you have selected your way of treatment, the next step is to filter your search to help narrow down the number of donors. First you need to select ‘Country of residence’ and ‘Country of treatment’. This is important because it will filter out the donors who have reached the Pregnancy Quota in your country.
Step 5: Filter by personal preferences
Now you can narrow down your search even more. You can select your personal preferences and filter the search on appearance and profile type. If you have not decided on which profile type or if you need more guidance on how to choose your sperm donor click here.
Step 6: Finding your favourite sperm donor
Once you have narrowed down your search using the available filters mentioned in the first 6 steps, you can read more about each donor and check the stock, prices, motility and screening of the donor. If you click on the small icons on the Extended Profiles you will find donor information such as an emotional intelligence test, child photos, a voice recording and Cryos staff impressions.
As you learn more about the donors, you can mark and save your favourite donors by selecting the checkbox ‘Add to favourites.’
Step 7: Add to basket and reserve
When you have chosen the perfect donor for your future family, the final step is to order the sperm straws.
When you click on your selected donor, a chart appears in the bottom of the page. Here you can see the available straws. Use the +/- signs to specify the amount of straws you want under the ‘Purchase’ column. You can also ‘Reserve’ straws if you want to make a reservation for later use.

Step 8: Purchase donor sperm
After adding the amount of straws you want, click on ‘Add to basket’. A pop-up window confirms that your selection of straws has been added to the basket. The Quota Reservation (only if applicable in your country of treatment) will automatically be added to your basket to ensure that the donor’s quota is not reached.
Click ‘Proceed to checkout’ if you are ready to purchase.
Step 9: Check out
Fill out your name, address, phone number etc. Then enter the clinic name or referral code in the box ‘Reference healthcare professional’. You must then enter the shipping date from Cryos and choose the shipping method as agreed upon with your clinic.
Learn more about shipping date and method here.
Once you have confirmed your purchase you will receive a confirmation e-mail from Cryos including your order number.

If you get pregnant
When you, hopefully, get pregnant, remember to report your pregnancy. We advise reporting your pregnancy when you have passed the first trimester and before the birth of your child. Learn more about how to report your pregnancy in our FAQ here.
If you do not get pregnant
In case you have a Quota Reservation and have not obtained a pregnancy, you can get your Quota Reservation refunded. We recommend keeping your Quota Reservation if you wish to continue treatment with the same donor.
