Home insemination
- Do you deliver donor semen to private customers for home insemination?
Yes. Cryos is a licensed tissue center according to the EU-Tissue directive and as such we can deliver tested and screened donor semen to anybody. Also to private patients for home insemination.
However, we always recommend that you are under the care of a physician or other health professionals. There are so many circumstances which must be considered regarding artificial insemination; for example medical examination, diagnosis, scanning, timing, and hormonal stimulation or other types of medication. A professional healthcare provider will be able to provide a much more effective treatment which often results in chances of pregnancy per cycle which are 3 to 4 times higher, or they can perform treatments such as intrauterine insemination (insemination directly into the uterine cavity) or IVF (In Vitro Fertilisation) which cannot be performed by private customers at home.
The donor semen is the same quality and standards as we deliver to fertility clinics.
- Do you ship anonymous donor semen to countries where anonymity is banned illegal?
For instance Norway, Sweden, Finland, United Kingdom, Switzerland, Austria and the Netherlands?
Yes. Cryos' license does not regulate what can be delivered to whom, so we can deliver all kinds of tested semen to anybody. Both anonymous and non-anonymous semen. The recipient is responsible for the legality of imports. However, to our best knowledge the ban is only relevant for physicians and/or licensed centres in the country in question. If the semen is delivered to private customers without a licence, there is no regulation as far as we know.
Exemption: Import to Norway can only take place with a special permission - see § 2-11.
- Do you ship non-anonymous donor semen to countries where non-anonymity is banned illegal?
For instance Denmark, France, Czech Republic, Estonia, Belgium, Bulgaria, Ireland, Cyprus, Greece, Hungary, Latvia, Poland, Portugal, Rumania, Slovakia, Slovenia and Spain?
Yes. Cryos' license does not regulate what can delivered to whom, so we can deliver all kinds of tested semen to anybody. Both anonymous and non-anonymous semen. The recipient is responsible for the legality of imports. However, to our best knowledge the ban is only relevant for physicians and/or licensed centres in the country in question. If the semen is delivered to private customers without a license, there is no regulation as far as we know.
In Denmark, for instance, the ban is only relevant for physicians. If the semen is delivered to non-physicians there is no regulation. Several insemination clinics run by midwifes, nurses, laboratory technicians, etc. are also offering treatment with non-anonymous semen.
- Do you ship donor semen to private customers in Italy and Lithuania where all kinds of donor semen is banned illegal?
Yes. The Italian Law 40/2004 only regulates "medically assisted" treatment, so it is not illegal for private customers to receive donor semen and to do home insemination.
- Do you ship donor semen to lesbians and sigles for home insemination?
Yes.
- What kind of Standard should I order?
Only physicians and/or licensed centers must use specific selected or tested donors. If you are not a physician and/or a licensed center you can use any kind of Standard. I.e. you do not need to choose for instance UK Standard for delivery to UK but can choose any Standard.
